Garlock shoots career-best round at Lourdes Invitational
OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. – Defiance College men's golf competed at the 14-team Lourdes Invitational at The Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, Mich. as senior Will Garlock fired a career-best round for the third round in a row to start the 2023-24 season.
Garlock (Lima, Ohio/LCC), who helps many programs on campus including football, cross country, men's basketball, student senate, and more, compiled a round of 94 after posting 18-hole totals of 105 and 101 over the weekend at the Lou Collins Memorial. The senior's career-best entering the new year was 108.
Freshman Sam Boyles led the Jackets for the second tournament in a row by shooting a team-best 89. Other scores for the competition included Zach Canterbury's season-debut finish with a round of 94 and Bretton Basford's 109.
As a team, the Defiance shot 386, 98 shots over par, and finished 13 of 13 teams. Cleary and Lawrence Tech tied for the team victory at 296 apiece while Lawrence Tech's Diego Courtney won the individual title in a playoff after tying Aquinas' Matt Denhartigh over the first 18 holes.
Yellow Jacket golf returns to the links on Wednesday, September 13 for Indiana Tech's Warrior Invitational at the Donald Ross Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind.
