Clingaman’s 2-under 70 leads men’s golf on final day of HCAC Preview

The tournament was hosted by Bluffton University at the par-72, 6,740-yard Hidden Creek Golf Club.

The tournament was hosted by Bluffton University at the par-72, 6,740-yard Hidden Creek Golf Club.
Defiance shot 319 during the final 18 holes, an eight-stroke improvement from Saturday, to end at 646 for eighth place. Hanover College claimed the tournament title with two rounds of 293 for a 586 (+5) total, and was followed closely by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (286-302—588) and Transylvania University (289-301—590).
Clingaman, from Stryker, Ohio, and the lone upperclassman on DC's squad, fired a 2-under-par 70 – his career-best score at Defiance and the best of the day – on Sunday to finish at 149 and tie for 14th place in a 61-player field. Freshman Dan Burgoyne added a 77 during the final round for a 156, tying for 33rd.
The next scheduled competition for the Jackets is the three-day HCAC Championship at Hidden Creek from April 30-May 2.
