Tinsley Earns All-HCAC as Jackets Finish Sixth
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) ended his collegiate career with his second straight All-Conference award and leading the Defiance College men's golf team to a sixth-place finish following the final round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) ended his collegiate career with his second straight All-Conference award and leading the Defiance College men's golf team to a sixth-place finish following the final round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
The Yellow Jackets finished with an overall total of 1,259 strokes (318+306+319+316=1,259) to place sixth overall of nine teams. Transylvania (Ky.) University captured the team title with 1,197 strokes (299+296+299+303=1,197) and Mount St. Joseph University was the runner-up at 1,207 strokes (303+295+307+302=1,207). Franklin (Ind.) College rounded out the top three schools with 1,213 strokes (301+301+304+307=1,213).
Tinsley carded a pair of 74's in the final two rounds to end the overall tournament with a accumulative score of 302 strokes (78+73+74+74=302) and placed fourth overall to earn All-HCAC honors. Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) also placed in the top-10 with a ninth-place finish after shooting scores of 80 and 76 in rounds three and four to end the tournament with 302 total strokes (71+75+80+76=302).
Senior Zach Weber (Ottoville) was third on the team with a tournament-total of 327 strokes (84+78+80+85=327) and was followed by junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) who ended the four-round event with 332 strokes (86+80+85+81=332).
Completing the list of DC competitors was sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) who ended the tournament with 356 total strokes (85+89+91+91=356).
