Yellow Jackets Complete First Rounds of HCAC Championship
HARRISON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and are currently in fifth place.
HARRISON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and are currently in fifth place.
Mount St. Joseph University served as host of the first two rounds which were played at Miami-Whitewater Forest Golf Course in Harrison, Ohio. The Yellow Jackets posted a team-total of 624 strokes (318+306=624) in the first two rounds to place fifth of nine schools. Transylvania (Ky.) University leads in the standings with 595 strokes (299+296=595) and host school Mount St. Joseph is second at 598 strokes (303+295=598). Hanover (Ind.) College rounds out the top-three with 599 strokes (299+300=599).
Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) led the Jackets with a two-day total of 146 strokes (71+75=146) and is tied for second overall individually. Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) was second on the team with 151 strokes (78+73=151) and is also in the top-10 in a tie for ninth.
Fellow senior Zach Weber (Ottoville) turned in rounds of 84 and 78 strokes to finish the opening rounds with 162 total strokes. Junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) shot a two-day total 166 strokes (86+80=166) and sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) ended the weekend with 174 strokes (85+89=174).
Defiance will play the final two rounds next Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7 at Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind. Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology will serve as host with the third round on Saturday set to begin at 11 a.m.
