Jackets Place Sixth at MSJ Invitational
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed sixth of 14 teams at the Mount St. Joseph University Spring Invitational at Aston Oaks Golf Course in North Bend, Ohio.
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed sixth of 14 teams at the Mount St. Joseph University Spring Invitational at Aston Oaks Golf Course in North Bend, Ohio.
The Yellow Jackets finished with an overall team score of 668 strokes (332+336=668) to place sixth overall. Transylvania (Ky.) University won the event with a two-day total of 628 strokes (313+315=628). Otterbein University was second with 630 strokes (322+308=630) and Thomas (Ky.) More College was third at 643 strokes (323+320=643).
Individually, senior Jacob Tinsley (Eaton) led DC with a tournament total of 154 strokes (73+81=154) and placed seventh overall. Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) was second at 163 strokes (82+81=163) and senior Zach Weber (Ottoville) posted the third-lowest score for the team at 172 strokes (82+90=172).
Junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) was fourth with 179 strokes (95+84=179) and sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) rounded out the DC competitors with 203 strokes (101+102=203).
Defiance will next compete in the Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology Invitational next Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 1-2. Both rounds begin at 9 a.m. at Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
