Men's Golf Wins Anderson Invitational
ANDERSON, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team began its 2016 fall schedule with a win at the Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational at the Anderson Country Club in Anderson, Ind.
ANDERSON, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team began its 2016 fall schedule with a win at the Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational at the Anderson Country Club in Anderson, Ind.
Defiance finished with a two-day team total of 616 strokes (305+311=616) to place first of four teams. Host school Anderson was second with 635 strokes (316+319=635) and Wabash (Ind.) College was third at 652 strokes (332+320=652).
Individually, junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) finished as the individual medalist and the only player to shoot under par at two-under with a two-day total 142 strokes (71+71=142). It marks the second straight tournament Miday has finished as medalist dating back to last year's HCAC Championships in the spring.
Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) also finished in the top-five with a third place finish after carding rounds of 74 and 79 strokes for an overall tournament-total of 153 strokes. Fellow senior Zach Weber (Ottoville) placed in the top-10 with a total of 162 strokes (78+84=162) which put him in a tie for ninth.
Senior Derek Lucas (Eaton) was fourth for the Yellow Jackets with 163 total strokes (82+81=163) and sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) was fifth at 164 strokes (84+80=164).
In addition, junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) also competed for DC and turned in rounds of 82 and 85 strokes for a total of 167 strokes to place in a tie for 16th.
Defiance is scheduled to host the annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Ironwood Golf Club in Wauseon, Ohio. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
