Men's Golf Competes in Match Play Event
ANGOLA, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team competed in the Bill Gettig Match Play Invitational hosted by Trine (Ind.) University at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
ANGOLA, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team competed in the Bill Gettig Match Play Invitational hosted by Trine (Ind.) University at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
Defiance's "B" Team defeated Defiance's "A" Team in the consolation championship. The tournament consisted of three nine-hole rounds. Players earned points for their team in head-to-head play based on the number of holes on which an individual earned a better score.
Individually, sophomores Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) and Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) both finished the event with 3-0 records. Junior Zach Weber (Ottoville) posted a 1-1-1 record in his three rounds of the day, while junior Jake Tinsley (Eaton), freshman Drake Moening (Defiance) and sophomore Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) both had 1-2 records.
Freshman Beau Barkley (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Churubusco) also competed in the event and finished with a 0-2-1 mark.
The Yellow Jackets will next compete in the first two of four rounds that make up the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship this Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 23-24. Hanover (Ind.) College will serve as host for the first two rounds which will be played at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Ind. The first round on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
