DC Men's Golf Places Fourth at Manchester
WABASH, IND. -- Junior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) finished six-over-par to lead the Defiance College men's golf team to a fourth-place showing at the Manchester (Ind.) University Spring Invitational at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Ind.

After a round of 303 strokes on the first day of competition, the Yellow Jackets improved by four strokes to fire a 299 on the final day and end the overall event with a team-total of 602 strokes to place fourth of 10 teams. Transylvania (Ky.) University won the tournament with a total of 569 strokes (288+281=569), followed by Mount St. Joseph University in second with 594 strokes (302+292=594). Hanover (Ind.) College finished in third with 598 strokes (306+292=598).
Tinsley recorded individual rounds of 73 and 75 strokes to pace DC and posted an overall score of 148 strokes which put him in a tie for 11th amongst the field. Junior Derek Lucas (Eaton) was second on the team with 150 strokes (75+75=150) and sophomore Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) had the third-best score at 153 strokes (78+75=153).
Fellow sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) finished a stroke behind Bostelman with a two-day total of 154 strokes (80+74=154). Completing the team score eligible rounds was junior Zach Weber (Ottoville) who shot rounds of 77 and 79 strokes for an overall total of 156 strokes.
Sophomore Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) competed as an individual for the Jackets and shot a tournament-total of 166 strokes (82+84=166). Joining McGinnis were freshmen Beau Barkley (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Churubusco) and Drake Moening (Defiance) with rounds of 171 strokes (86+85=171) and 172 strokes (82+90=172) respectively.
The men's golf team is scheduled to compete in the Bill Gettig Invitational hosted by Trine (Ind.) University on Wednesday, Apr. 20. The single-round tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
