Men's Golf Travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

MYRTYLE BEACH, S.C.- The Defiance College men's golf team placed fourth in the Barefoot Shootout on Wednesday, Mar. 9 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Yellow Jackets shot a single-round total of 334 strokes. Gettysburg (Pa.) College finished in first place with 312 strokes overall and Carroll (Wisc.) University was a stroke behind in second place with 313 strokes. Manhattanville (N.Y.) College rounded out the top-three with a team effort of 322 strokes.
Individually for DC, sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) tied for fourth overall with an 18-hole total of 78 strokes and was the top performer for the Yellow Jackets.
Junior Derek Lucas (Eaton) was the second top performer for the Jackets with 84 strokes followed closely behind by teammates junior Jacob Tinsley (Eaton) and sophomore Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) who both shot 86 strokes on the day. Junior Zach Weber (Ottoville) shot an 89 and finished fourth on the team.
Sophomore Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) shot a tournament-total 93 strokes, freshman Drake Moening (Defiance) carded a 96 and freshman Beau Barkley had 99 strokes all competiting as individuals for the Jackets.
The Jackets will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for a weekend tournament March 19-20 to compete in the Mount St. Joseph Invitational.
