Weber Shoots 70 to Lead Jackets to Third-Place Finish
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Junior Zach Weber (Ottowville) shot a tournament-tying low round of 70 strokes (32+38=70) to lead the Defiance College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Defiance Fall Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Junior Zach Weber (Ottowville) shot a tournament-tying low round of 70 strokes (32+38=70) to lead the Defiance College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Defiance Fall Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
The Yellow Jackets posted a single-round total of 299 strokes to place third overall. Tiffin University came in first with 293 strokes and Cleary (Mich.) University was second wtih 298 strokes.
In addition to Weber, sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas), junior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) and sophomore Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) all posted rounds in the 70's. Miday had the second lowest score for the team of 73 strokes (35+38=73) and was followed by Tinsley with an 18-hole total 77 strokes (39+38=77). Bostelman completed the team score qualifying rounds with a 79 (43+36=79). Junior Derek Lucas (Eaton) rounded out the Defiance competitors with a score of 91 strokes (41+50=91).
In addition, sophomore Adam McGinnis (Boomville/Buckeye Central) and freshman Drake Moening (Defiance) both competed as individuals. McGinnis carded a round of 84 strokes (41+43=84) and Moening ended the tournament with a round of 87 strokes (45+52=87).
Defiance will conclude its fall schedule next Saturday, Sept. 26 when it competes in the one-day Manchester (Ind.) University in North Manchester, Ind.
