Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Spiess Invitational
WAUSEON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team finished in fourth place at the annual Jon P. Spiess Invitational hosted by DC at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon.
WAUSEON, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team finished in fourth place at the annual Jon P. Spiess Invitational hosted by DC at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot a score of 306 strokes to place fourth overall. Lourdes University captured the team title with a single-round score of 295 strokes. Owens Community College was tied for second at 296 strokes with Jackson Community College who also posted a team score of 296 strokes.
Junior Jake Tinsely (Eaton) paced DC with a round of two over par 74 strokes (35+39=74). Sophomore Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) carded the second lowest total for the Yellow Jackets with 75 strokes (38+37=75) and junior Zach Weber (Ottoville) was third after shooting a score of 78 strokes (39+39=78). The duo of sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) and junior Derek Lucas (Eaton) finished in a tie for fourth on the team with a pair of 79's. Both players shot 38 strokes on the front nine and 41 on the back nine.
In addition, sophomore Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) and freshman Drake Moening (Defiance) competed as individuals. McGinnis carded a round of 79 strokes (38+41=79), while Moening ended the tournament with a round of 82 strokes (38+44=82).
Defiance is scheduled to host the Defiance Fall Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
