Miday Takes Top Individual Honor at Anderson (Ind.) Invite
ANDERSON, IND. -- Defiance College sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) took medalist honors as the top individual and led the Yellow Jacket men's golf team to a second place showing at the Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational.
ANDERSON, IND. -- Defiance College sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) took medalist honors as the top individual and led the Yellow Jacket men's golf team to a second place showing at the Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational.
DC posted an overall team score of 608 strokes (308+300=608) to place second of six teams. Kalamazoo (Mich.) College ended the two-day event with a total of 593 strokes (295+298=593) to capture the overall team title. Hanover (Ind.) College rounded out the top three schools with 613 strokes (308+305=613).
Miday ended the tournament with a combined score of 143 strokes (71+72=143) and finish one under par. Junior Zach Weber (Ottoville) was second with 152 strokes (78+74=152) and also placed in the top ten with a ninth-place showing. Fellow junior Derek Lucas (Eaton) carded a pair of 78's for both days of competition to end the event with an overall score of 156 strokes. Sophomore Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) bettered his final round score by five strokes for an overall total 157 strokes (81+76=157) to place fourth on the team. Junior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) rounded out the team qualifying scores with 163 strokes (82+81=163).
Freshman Drake Moening (Defiance) and sophomore Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) both competed as individuals and finished the tournament with scores of 166 (84+82=166) and 171 (92+79=171) strokes respectively.
Defiance will continue its fall schedule on Tuesday (Sept. 15) when the Jackets host the annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio. The one-day tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
