Men's Golf Places Third at Shortened ONU Invite
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed third at the shortened Ohio Northern University Spring Equinox Classic at Colonial Golfers Club in Ada.
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed third at the shortened Ohio Northern University Spring Equinox Classic at Colonial Golfers Club in Ada.
The final round was canceled due to deteriorating course conditions Sunday morning.
The Yellow Jackets ended the tournament with a team score of 324 strokes to place third of five teams. Individually, sophomore Jake Tinsley (Eaton) shot a four over par round of 76 strokes to lead Defiance and placed third overall. Freshman Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) was second with an 18-hole score of 81 strokes and was followed by sophomore Zach Weber (Ottoville) who carded a round of 82 strokes. The duo of sophomore Derek Lucas (Eaton) and freshman Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) both posted the fourth-lowest scores for the team of 85 strokes each.
Competing as an individuals, freshmen Ben Baumgartner (Holland/Springfield) shot a round of 84 strokes and Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) carded a 91.
Columbus State University came in first with a score of 311 strokes. Host school Ohio Northern was second at 315 strokes and Heidelberg University was fourth at 336 strokes. Rounding out the field was Marygrove (Mich.) College with a team score of 371 strokes.
Defiance is scheduled to travel to Hanover, Ind. for the Hanover College Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 11-12 at Shadowwood Golf Course. The first round on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
