Yellow Jackets Place 13th at MSJ Spring Invite
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team opened the northern part of its spring schedule at the Mount St. Joseph University Spring Invitational at the Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend.

The Yellow Jackets totaled a two-day team score of 694 strokes (342+352=694) to place 13th of 14 teams. Kenyon College took top team honors with an overall score of 611 strokes (301+310=611). Transylvania (Ky.) University was second at 622 strokes (315+307=622) and host school Mount St. Joseph was third with 641 strokes (315+326=641).
Freshman Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) paced Defiance with a 36-hole total 170 strokes improving his final round score by four strokes over his opening round yesterday with an 83 (87+83=170). Sophomore Jake Tinsley (Eaton) and freshman Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) ended the tournament tied for second on the team with scores of 174 strokes each. Tinsley fired rounds of 82 and 92 strokes, while Miday carded a pair of 87 strokes on both days of competition. Sophomore Zach Weber (Ottoville) rounded out the top-four qualifying scores with a two-day total 176 strokes (86+90=176). In addition, freshman Ben Baumgartner (Holland/Springfield) also competed for DC and carded rounds of 90 and 93 strokes to post an event-total 183 strokes.
Freshman Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) competed as an individual for the Yellow Jackets and turned in a 36-hole total of 169 strokes. He shot an opening round 82, followed by a round of 87 strokes to end the competition.
The Yellow Jackets will continue the season next Saturday-Sunday, Mar. 28-29 at the Ohio Northern Spring Equinox Classic at the Colonial Golfers Club in Ada.
