Ross leads DC on final day of Hanover Invitational
HANOVER, Ind. - The Defiance College men’s golf team concluded the Hanover College Spring Invitational in seventh place with a two day total of 636 Sunday.
HANOVER, Ind. - The Defiance College men's golf team concluded the Hanover College Spring Invitational in seventh place with a two day total of 636 Sunday. The Defiance men were able to keep up with their strong performances from Saturday.
Mike Ross led the Yellow Jackets and tied for 13th in the competition with an overall score of 152. Ross performed stronger today and was able to lower his score by two strokes for a total of 75 for day two of competition.
Rick Girona finished second for Defiance with a score of 80 for round two. Girona finished the competition with a score of 159 tying for 32nd in the invitational.
Zach Weber had a very consistent weekend scoring 81 both on day one and two of competition.
Derek Lucas had a very strong performance on day two and had a second round score of 79 as a non-scoring member of the team. Weber and Lucas ended the weekend with a score of 162 tying for 40th place.
Josh DeGroff trailed just behind Weber and finished the weekend with a two day score of 164. DeGroff golfed an 83 for day two and tied for 48th place.
Jacob Tinlsey finished the weekend tying for 56th place with a two day total of 168. Tinlsey finished fifth for Defiance and ended the day with a round of 82, dropping his score by four strokes from day one.
Finishing in a tie for 64th, Ryan Edelbrock had a two day total score of 173. Edelbrock shot an 88 for the final 18 holes of the competition.
Defiance will host the Defiance Invitational next weekend at the Eagle Rock Golf Club. The tournament is set for a 9:30 a.m. start on Saturday with 18 holes scheduled for day one. Day two of the tournament will also begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
