Defiance Golf Competes at First Round of HCAC Championships

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket men's golf team took part in round one of the four that make the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday, April 27. The Yellow Jackets currently sit in eighth place heading into round two on Sunday.
Leading the Purple and Gold through the first 18 holes was junior Mike Ross. The Bryan High product shot a round of 83 on the first day of action and is tied for 22nd overall. Finishing second on the squad was senior Alex Goecke, who turned in a mark of 88.
Transylvania leads at the championships after notching a first-day score of 297. The mark sits six strokes ahead of Hanover who finished second with 303. DC ended the afternoon with a total score of 358.
DC will be back in action tomorrow Sunday, April 28 for the second round of the tournament. Tee times are set to go off at 8:30 a.m. at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio.
