Jackets Finish in Eighth Place at DC Invite

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Senior Brian Jones fired a 77 at the Defiance College Invitational to claim 12th-place overall on Sunday. Jones and the rest of the Jackets posted a team score of 333 to finish in 8th place at the event.

Sophomore Mike Ross posted a final tally of 79 to finish tied for 19th in the 57-golfer field. Seniors Matt Gehring and Trevor Ault added scores of 88 and 89, while sophomore Josh DeGroff shot 98 to round out the scoring for the Jackets.

Playing as individuals were senior Jared James and freshman Hurst Talbott. James had a final score of 81, while Talbott posted an 85 for the tournament. 

Trine University took the team title with a total score of 312.Phil Patten of Tiffin University claimed medalist honors with a 73.

The Jackets will return to the links on September 24 for the first day of the Kenyon College Invitational.
