Neal Leads Hot Start for DC at HCAC Championship
FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s golf team got off to a strong start in the 2010 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, shooting a 320 in the opening round to end just four strokes out of fourth place in the four-round event.

Jace Neal led the opening-round charge by firing a 76 over his first 18, to end in a tie for sixth place on the individual leader board. Brian Jones carded a 77 to tie for 11th, while Alex Goecke (83), Jared James (84) and Greg Vogt (86) rounded out DC's five-man lineup.
Transylvania finished Saturday's action with a 292 to lead Franklin (304) and Mount St. Joseph (310) in the team standings. Hanover and Anderson each shot a 316, while Defiance (320), Rose-Hulman (334) and Manchester (337) round out the field.
TU will also pace the individual competition at the start of Sunday's second round, as it owns the top three scores with Justin Tereshko (71), Matthew Martin (72) and Hunter Frazier (73) leading the way.
The second round of the HCAC Championship Tournament will begin on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
