GREENWOOD, Ind. – Jace Neal tied for second place at the OSU-Marion Scarlet Wave Invitational on Saturday and has been named the Men's Golf Player of the Week by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Neal carded a single-round total of 78 at the 11-team tournament to end in a tie for second place and just two strokes off the pace of the top individual performer. The second place finish was the best individual effort by a Yellow Jacket golfer this spring, while the fourth-place showing from Defiance was also the best finish for the team in three spring events.
The HCAC Men's Golf Player-of-the-Week honor is the first for a Yellow Jacket this season and the second for Neal in his three-year career with Defiance.
Neal and DC will be back in action this weekend, when the Jackets host the 2010 DC Spring Invitational on April 10 and 11 with the action starting at 10:00 am on each day at Kettenring Country Club.
