Men's Basketball wins hard fought battle against Transylvania
The Defiance men's basketball team earned a hard fought victory against Transylvania in an HCAC home contest on Saturday afternoon, 70-67.

Inside The Numbers
- Senior Marell Jordan led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points, while also dishing out six assists and snagging five steals.
- Senior Tyler Andrew and sophomore Cameron Awls each scored 12 points.
- Junior Jerome Johnson added nine points off the bench.
- Sophomore Dejsani Beamon chipped in seven points and handed out four assists.
- As a team, Defiance shot 25-of-45 (.510) from the floor and went 6-of-12 (.500) from behind the arc.
- Zach Larimore led Transylvania with a game-high 18 points.

The Difference
- Both teams battled back-and-forth to start the game and throughout most of the first half.
- The Yellow Jackets ended the first half going on a 15-8 run to take a 37-28 halftime lead.
- The Pioneers would not go away though, chipping at the Defiance lead throughout the second half.
- With less than ten minutes the Yellow Jackets went on a mini run to see their largest lead of the game at ten, 59-49.
- Transylvania mounted a comeback to cut the deficit to one, 68-67, with less than a minute remaining.
- Awls drilled a clutch basket with the shot clock winding down to give Defiance a 70-67 lead with 25 seconds remaining.
- The Yellow Jackets held their ground and didn't let the Pioneers get a good shot off and sealed the big victory.
- Defiance held a slight advantage in assists, 16-15.
- The Yellow Jackets held a big edge in fast break points, 17-6.
