Parker Named HCAC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. – Defiance College junior men’s basketball player, Michael Parker (Indianapolis, Ind. /Lawrence North), has been named this week’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
GREENWOOD, IND. – Defiance College junior men's basketball player, Michael Parker (Indianapolis, Ind. /Lawrence North), has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Parker played a vital role in the aiding the Yellow Jackets post a pair of victories this past week with wins against Earlham (Ind.) College and Franklin (Ind.) College.
Parker averaged 27.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 15-for-29 (51.7%) from behind the arc this past week. He scored a career-high 28 points, including making eight three-pointers in the 75-57 win over Earlham (Ind.). Parker then scored a game-high 27 points against Franklin (Ind.) on eight-of-14 shooting (57.1 percent) that included seven three-pointers.
Parker currently second on the team with 303 points for the season (14.4 points per game average) and leads the team with 28 steals.
Defiance will travel to Bluffton for a HCAC game against Bluffton University on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The game will be part of a basketball doubleheader with the Yellow Jacket women's team. The women will tip-off against the Beavers at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
