GREENWOOD, Ind. – Defiance College's Logan Wolfrum became the program's all-time leading scorer at the NCAA Division III level and has been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, after leading the Jackets to road wins over Manchester and Mount St. Joseph.
Wolfrum averaged 29.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in the two victories, while connecting on 72.4 percent of his shots from the floor and burying 12-of-16 three-point attempts in the two contests for a 75.0-percent clip.
The Ayersville High product opened the week by pouring in a season-high 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting and an eight-of-12 showing from three-point territory. Wolfrum also added six rebounds and six assists to help Defiance rally for a 78-77 win at Manchester. The Jackets needed every point of Wolfrum's third career 40-point performance, as the senior scored 19 of DC's final 21, including each of the final 13 to overcome a 10-point deficit. Wolfrum then sealed the victory with a game-winning free throw with no time left on the clock to push Defiance past the Spartans.
Wolfrum stayed hot at Mount St. Joseph, drilling four more attempts from long distance and ending with 18 points in the 77-63 Yellow Jacket triumph. The Defiance, Ohio, native sank a pair of free throws with 5:14 left in the game to climb to 1,705 career points and become the program's most prolific scorer since DC joined the NCAA Division III ranks prior to the 1991-1992 campaign.
Wolfrum has now been named the HCAC Player of the Week twice during the 2012-2013 season and nine times during his illustrious four-year career with Defiance College.
Wolfrum and the Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday, February 6, when they host Earlham (2-19, 1-13 HCAC) inside the Karl H. Weaner Community Center. A DC victory would clinch a spot in the HCAC Tournament for the Yellow Jackets.
