Defiance’s Wolfrum Named HCAC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selected Defiance College’s Logan Wolfrum as the men’s basketball player of the week on Monday.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selected Defiance College's Logan Wolfrum as the men's basketball player of the week on Monday. Wolfrum hit a pair of game-winning shots for the Jackets to earn the seventh HCAC Player-of-the-Week honor of his career.
Wolfrum opened the week with 13 of his 18 points against Manchester coming after the break to help the Jackets climb out of a 10-point deficit. The junior guard added nine assists and sank the game-winning basket with 2.8 seconds left in the game to seal the 57-56 DC victory.
Wolfrum followed that performance on Saturday by helping Defiance overcome a 12-point, second-half deficit to Mount St. Joseph with 22 points, six helpers, five rebounds and a steal in the 66-64 win. The Defiance, Ohio native scored the final 10 points of the game for DC to erase a 61-56 MSJ lead with four minute remaining in the contest and hit the go-ahead bucket with 5.2 seconds showing on the clock to complete the comeback.
For the week, Wolfrum averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals with a sparkling, 3.8, assist-to-turnover ratio in 34.0 minutes of action per game. Wolfrum also connected on 13-of-26 field goal attempts to help Defiance the two victories.
Wolfrum and the Jackets (9-12, 5-9 HCAC) will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday, when they play at Earlham (1-20, 1-13 HCAC) in a 7:30 pm affair.
