The freshman guard turned in a pair of double figure scoring totals and shot 57.9 percent from the floor, while averaging 16.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game for the week. Wolfrum's performances helped Defiance climb into third place in the HCAC with its wins at Manchester and against Transylvania.
Wolfrum hit seven-of-11 field goals and led all players with 22 points and four steals in a crucial, 71-64, triumph against the Pioneers on Saturday. The Defiance, Ohio, native scored four-straight buckets for DC during a pivotal stretch midway through the second half to extend a 43-41 edge into a 51-43 cushion for the Yellow Jackets with just over 10 minutes left in the game.
Wolfrum also played well in Defiance's 70-59 win at Manchester on Wednesday, as he scored 10 points on four-of-eight shooting and tacked on three rebounds and one steal.
The two games marked the sixth and seventh time that Wolfrum has scored in double figures in DC's last eight times out. Those numbers bode well for the Jackets, who have gone 13-2 this season when Wolfrum has attempted at least six shots.
The HCAC Player-of-the-Week honor for Wolfrum makes him the only player to earn two weekly awards from the conference this season in men's basketball. Defiance also now leads all teams in the league with three awards, as Nick Sales has also been recognized this season.
Wolfrum and the Jackets (17-5, 8-5 HCAC) will be back in action on Saturday, with a home tilt against Mount St. Joseph (8-12, 3-9 HCAC) at 3:00 pm.
