Wolfrum Nets HCAC Player of the Week Award

Wolfrum led Defiance to wins in each of its first three contests, including a 79-72 overtime victory against Adrian on Sunday to clinch the John Dawson Invitational Championship. The freshman point guard shot 59.9 percent from the field, including 12-of-18 three-point attempts and all 16 attempts from the charity stripe, en route to averaging 22.0 points, 5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game during that span.
The Defiance, Ohio, native and former Ayersville High standout made his debut at Kalamazoo by scoring 10 of DC's first 12 points and ending with team highs of 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Wolfrum then poured in 28 points and dished out seven helpers in a win over Mount Union, before netting 16 second-half points to fuel the Jackets' overtime victory against Adrian in the championship game.
Wolfrum was named the John Dawson Invitational Most Valuable Player after registering 44 points, 13 assists and three steals in the two victories, while connecting on eight-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc and all 12 of his free throw attempts.
Wolfrum and the Jackets (3-0) will look to continue their hot start on Tuesday night, when they make their 2009 home debut against Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30 pm.
