In the homecoming game for the Yellow Jackets, the sophomore defensive back was all over the field for Purple and Gold. Feldhuas (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) picked up a fumble recovery in the first quarter that led to a touchdown for the Defiance offense and then Feldhaus added two fourth quarter interceptions that ended threatening Manchester drives late in the contest. Feldhaus also added six tackles in the win.
For the 2013 season, the sunshine state native has racked up a team-leading 51 total tackles. Feldhuas is also first in fumble recoveries (four) and forced fumbles (five). He is also second on the team in interceptions (four) and in tackles for loss (5.5). Feldhaus currently sits second nationally in forced fumbles, fourth nationally in fumbles recovered, and 19th nationally in interceptions.
This is the second time this season that Feldhaus has been named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week, as he also won the award in week three after his performance against Rose-Hulman that included a 55-yard fumble return for a touchdown. This marks the fourth time this season that DC has been represented with a player of the week. Tony Sierra earned the defensive award last week and Alex Larson earned the offensive award after week one.
Feldhaus and the rest of the Defiance College football team will be back in action Saturday, October 19, when the Yellow Jackets travel to Cincinnati to take on Mount St. Joseph. The game is slated to kick off at 1:30 pm.
