GREENWOOD, Ind. - The first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Highlight of the Week in 2013 belongs to Yellow Jackets defensive back Jorry Matherson.
Matherson, a sophomore out of Columbia, Maryland, intercepted a pass with one hand in Saturday's game and the play was voted as the top play of the week. Matherson correctly read a bubble screen pass attempt by Albion's Dominic Bona with 9:16 to go in the first quarter and was able to reach out and grab the pass with one hand for the interception.
The play received 72 percent of the voting over Franklin's wide out Kyle Linville's catch against Mt. Union. In just 36 hours the two plays generated over 1,200 votes.
Matherson and the rest of the Yellow Jackets football team will play their first home game of the season this weekend against Adrian. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Justin F. Coressel Stadium.
