DEFIANCE, Ohio – OhioCollegeFootball.com unveiled its 2011 NCAA Division III All-Ohio Teams on Thursday, with Defiance College's Tony Sierra being named Second-Team All-Ohio to represent the Yellow Jackets on the postseason list.
Sierra was recently heralded as a First-Team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standout for the third time in as many years for his efforts as a strong safety and punt return specialist. The Warren, Mich., native ranked 19th in the nation and tops in the HCAC during the regular season with 13.5 yards per punt return for the Purple and Gold and set a new DC record with an 84-yard return for a touchdown in a 23-13 win at Mount St. Joseph.
Along with his exploits in the return game, Sierra anchored the Yellow Jacket secondary with 52 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defended from his safety slot.
Sierra's Second-Team All-Ohio award comes one day after fellow Cousino High product, Andy Cessna, was tabbed as a Third-Team All-North Region selection for Defiance.
