Longsdorf, Foos and Hedderly Earn All-Region Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Three Defiance College seniors were named to the D3football.com 2010 All-North Region Team recently, with Kyle Longsdorf earning First-Team honors, Tom Foos making the Second-Team and Austin Hedderly garnering a Third-Team selection. [D3football.com Release]
The First-Team All-North Region is the latest in a string of postseason accolades for Longsdorf, who led all NCAA Division III defensive backs and ranked fourth in the nation among all Division III defenders with 139 tackles during the regular season. Longsdorf has also been heralded as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Defensive Most Valuable Player and the OhioCollegeFootball.com Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Foos also followed his HCAC Special Teams Most Valuable Player and OhioCollegeFootball.com Second-Team All-Ohio honors by being named Second-Team All-North Region. Foos averaged 38.2 yards per punt during his senior season and pinned 19 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Hedderly rounded out the list of Yellow Jackets to be recognized, earning Third-Team All-North Region after being named First-Team All-HCAC from his defensive tackle position. Hedderly ranked second in the conference with 7.5 sacks and added 44 tackles and 10.5 hits for negative yardage.
Defiance posted a 6-4 overall mark in 2010 and ended in second place in the HCAC with a 6-2 league record.
