McDonald had 10 tackles in the winning effort and added a pair of sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery from his defensive end position. The freshman starter fueled another sparkling performance from the Purple and Gold's defensive unit, as Defiance limited the Spartans to just 189 total yards of offense and 1.5 yards per rush.
The weekly accolade from D3football.com marks the fifth time this season that a member of the DC football team has been recognized, as McDonald joins fellow defensive linemen Joemese Scott and Austin Hedderly in winning the award once, as well as two-time honoree Kyle Longsdorf.
McDonald and the Jackets (6-3, 6-1 HCAC) will look to close the 2010 regular season with their sixth-straight win when they travel to Bluffton for a 1:30 pm start on November 13. A DC win and a Franklin loss to Hanover would net a share of the 2010 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship for the Jackets.
