DC's Foos Honored with Fred Mitchell Award for October

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College's Tom Foos has been honored as one of 42 place-kickers from around the nation to be given with the Fred Mitchell Award for the month of October, marking the second-straight month that Foos has received the accolade [Fred Mitchell Award Release]
The honor recognized kickers for excellence on and off the field and selected 10 kickers from the NCAA Division III level for the month of October. Foos helped Defiance to a 4-0 record in the month, while finishing second on the team in scoring with his 25 points. The senior connected on three field goal tries and was 16-of-20 in point-after attempts.
For the season, Foos has garnered a trio of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player-of-the-Week awards and has booted six field goals and 21 point-after attempts for 39 points. The Helena, Ohio, native is averaging 57.2 yards per kickoff, while also posting 38.5 yards per punt with 13 landing inside the 20-yard line.
Foos and the Jackets (5-3, 5-1 HCAC) will continue the 2010 campaign on November 6 with a 1:30 pm start at Manchester (2-6, 1-5 HCAC).
