DC's Foos Named September Recipient of Fred Mitchell Award
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College’s Tom Foos has been selected as one of 32 place-kickers from around the nation to receive the Fred Mitchell Award for the month of September. The honor recognizes kickers for excellence on the gridiron and in the community.

Foos was one of the 10 NCAA Division III representatives on the list of 32 student-athletes from all collegiate ranks. The senior ranked second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with three made field goals in as many attempts during the month, while also connecting of all five point-after attempts. Foos also handled the kick-off and punting duties and was a two-time HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week in the season's first four weeks.
Foos not only excelled on the football field for the Yellow Jackets but the Helena, Ohio, native participated in the squad's annual service day during preseason. As part of the afternoon of community service, Foos and other members of the DC football team and coaching staff cleaned up several local playgrounds and parks around the city of Defiance.
The Fred Mitchell Award Selection Committee Chairman Chris Kearney had this to say about the September recipients, "We are delighted to recognize these place-kickers for their achievements."
