GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has named Tom Foos as the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, after the senior connected on a pair of crucial field goals in the closing moments of DC's season-opening, 19-13, overtime loss at Muskingum on Saturday.
Foos split the uprights from 24 yards out to draw Defiance even at 10-10 with 5:25 remaining in the fourth quarter and then boomed a career-long 45-yard field goal to give the Yellow Jackets the, 13-10, edge in the first overtime period.
Along with the pair of field goals, Foos converted his only point-after attempt of the game, averaged 53.7 yards per kickoff and pinned Muskingum inside the 20-yard line on two-of-seven punt attempts.
The league honor is the fourth for Foos during his outstanding four-year career with the Purple and Gold.
Foos and the Jackets (0-1) will look to crack the win column on Saturday night, as they head to Adrian (0-1) for a 6:00 pm start. DC will be providing a live webcast of the game at www.defianceathletics.com/video.
