GREENWOOD, Ind. -- For the second week in a row and third time this season, Luke Dillon has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The All-American candidate chased down four touchdown passes and had 173 yards receiving as Defiance surged past Anderson, 34-7, on Saturday.
One week after his record-breaking performance in DCs, 33-31, win over Rose-Hulman, Dillon raised the bar once again. The Temperance, Mich., native averaged 21.6 yards over eight catches and equaled his one week old single-game school record of four touchdowns. Dillon caught a pair of touchdown passes in the opening quarter to help the Jackets take control early and added scores in the second and third quarters before setting out the final fifteen minutes of the game.
The game marked the sixth-straight time Dillon has surpassed 100 yards receiving and was his second-straight game with over 150 yards and four touchdowns. Dillon now has 946 yards on 66 catches and has found the end zone 11 times. He is just 18 catches, 263 yards and three scores shy of DCs single-season records and his next touchdown will tie the schools mark for receiving touchdowns in a career.
Dillon continues to lead the nation with 11.0 receptions and 157.7 receiving yards per game and is on track to etch his name in the HCAC annuals as well. With four games left on the schedule, Dillon is on pace to set the HCAC single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns per game.
Dillon and the Jackets (4-2, 3-0 HCAC) will look to continue their strong play when they host Hanover on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
