Defiance Adds Six to HCAC’s Spring Sportsmanship Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2011 All-Sportsmanship Team for the spring seasons on Wednesday. The award is part of the league-wide initiative to promote good sportsmanship.

Members of the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team were selected by head coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field or court of competition.

Nominees must be a member of an intercollegiate athletics team during the 2010-2011 academic year and must have demonstrated the values of respect and integrity in their daily participation of intercollegiate athletics.

Defiance College placed Mark Vandevender (men's tennis), David Riley (baseball), Nicole Diers (softball), Mike Ross (men's golf), Josh Beaverson (men's track and field) and Kali George (women's track and field) among the HCAC's list of 56 student-athletes to be honored with the award.
