Defiance Runs In HCAC Championships
SHELBYVILLE, IND. – The Defiance College women’s cross country team traveled to Shelbyville, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which were hosted by Franklin (Ind.) College and finished tenth with a team score of 233 points.
SHELBYVILLE, IND. – The Defiance College women's cross country team traveled to Shelbyville, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which were hosted by Franklin (Ind.) College and finished tenth with a team score of 233 points.
Defiance was led by junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. /Jay County) who ran a time of 22:21.1 and finished second overall. Sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) had the second quickest time for Defiance crossing the line at 27:48.1. Junior Kayla Miller (Wadsworth) crossed the finish next at the 29:50.0 minute mark, while senior Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center) crossed the line in 30:55.6. Rounding out the scoring for the Yellow Jackets was junior Emily Denhard (Troy, Mich. /Kolbe Academy) who crossed the line in 33:57.5.
At the conclusion of the race, E. Miller earned HCAC All-Conference accolades and Weaks was placed on the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday Nov. 14 when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the NCAA Division III Regionals, hosted by Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
