George, Bingley Pace DC Women’s Track and Field at Adrian
ADRIAN, Mich. – The junior duo of Kali George and Kim Bingley turned in solid outings for the Yellow Jackets at the Adrian Invitational on Saturday, April 6.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The junior duo of Kali George and Kim Bingley turned in solid outings for the Yellow Jackets at the Adrian Invitational on Saturday, April 6. Combined, the tandem registered seven individual first or second-place finishes at the competition.
The multi-event athlete Bingley took the top spot in both the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.19) and the javelin (33.86 meters). The Ottawa, Ohio, native also chalked up an individual second-place mark in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.88.
George scored her marks over four events, in which she grabbed the second-best mark in all of them. On the track, the East Palestine High product clocked a 1:00.96 in the 400-meter dash. George then went on to excel in the field events of high jump (1.55 m), long jump (5.18 m) and javelin throw (32.86 m).
In the 4x400-meter relay, the tandem teamed up with senior Katie Heitkamp and sophomore Brooke Lime to run a time of 4:11.27. It was also a second-place finish for the Purple and Gold track and field team.
Lime had a strong day of her own at the invite. The second-year Yellow Jacket finished second behind Bingley in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.00 and also clocked a 17.11 in the 100 hurdles to score third.
Lastly, freshman Waverly Weaks and Kim Maro added turned in personal records in the field events. Weaks recorded second in the triple jump (9.85 m) and third in the long jump (5.14 m), while Maro tossed a distance of 29.55 meter in the javelin.
The Defiance College track and field team will return home to prep for the big competition next weekend, when it travels to Delaware, Ohio for the All-Ohio Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Action will kick off at 10 a.m.
