Track and Field: Yellow Jackets compete at Ashland
ASHLAND, Ohio - The Defiance College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University Saturday afternoon. No team scores were given for the event.
Montgomery Rollins, Tawon Cannon, Gavin Maratea, and Jeremiah Benton all ran the 200 meter dash. Rollins had the best finish, placing 62nd with a time of 23.29 seconds. Cannon placed 67th with a time of 23.32 seconds. Benton set a new personal best with a time of 25.95 seconds.
Maratea placed 45th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.63 seconds. Benton narrowly missed out on a personal best in the 60 meter dash, and he placed 60th at 8.05 seconds. Rollins set a new personal best in the 400 meter dash, recording a time of 51.47 seconds. Ron Scott placed 43rd in the shot put and David Heidelburg placed 55th in the shot put.
Shelby Clements also ran the 200 meter and placed 80th with a time of 29.34 seconds. Myahn Smith placed 11th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.46 seconds and Clements placed 25th in the 60 meter, recording a time of 8.74 seconds.
Track and Field is back at it next Saturday (Feb. 10) and travels up to Michigan to compete at Grand Valley State University.
