Four Yellow Jackets earn personal bests at Wittenberg
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Defiance College men's and women's track and field teams closed out January competition at the Steemer Showcase Saturday afternoon at Wittenberg University.
Montgomery Rollins, David Heidelburg, Shelby Clements, and Myahn Smith all set new personal bests in today's meet.
Tawon Cannon placed 13th in the 400 meter dash and 32 in the 200 meter dash. Montgomery Rollins set a personal best in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.90 seconds for a 21st place finish. Rollins also ran the 400 meter dash for the first time and completed it in 51.71 seconds. Jeremiah Benton placed 46th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.24 seconds.
David Heidelburg set a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 9.59m (31' 5.75") and placed 58th. Gavin Maratea competed in both the 200 and 400 and placed 71st in the 400. Ron Scott placed 34th in the shot put with a throw of 11.57m (37' 11.5").
Shelby Clements placed 16th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.74 seconds and set a new personal best in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.25 seconds. Lisa-Maria Markau placed ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.40 seconds. Myahn Smith placed fourth in the 60 meter dash and set a personal best in the 200 meter with a time of 27.66 seconds.
Track and Field competes at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University next Saturday (Feb. 3).
