Cross claims 200m title at HCAC Outdoor Championships
Defiance freshman Traci Cross placed first in the 200-meters at the 2022 HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Defiance freshman Traci Cross placed first in the 200-meters at the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Cross helped lead the Defiance women's team to tie for sixth place at the event.
The Basics
- The event was hosted by Hanover College.
- Manchester took home the conference championship with 180 points edging out Hanover who had 177.
- Defiance recorded 40 points to tie with Translyvania for sixth place.
Notable Performances
- Cross had the second-fastest time (26.11 seconds) in the prelims for the 200-meters and then followed it up by winning the finals with a time of 25.80 seconds.
- Cross also placed second in the 100-meters with a time of 12.61 seconds in the finals after recording the fastest time in the prelims at 12.56 seconds.
- Senior Lisa Markau set personal bests in the 100 (12.98 seconds), 200 (26.67 seconds), and the long jump (4.35m). Markau finished fifth in the 200 and seventh in the 100 in the finals of each event.
- Cross and Markau also teamed up with Ashanti Elkins and Destiny Oshodin to take third place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 51.74 seconds.
- Oshodin placed 10th in the javelin with a throw of 24.27m.
