DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College women's soccer suffered its first setback of the season, 10-0, to the Adrian Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon at Winsper Knobel Field.
After sweeping their two games in the Purple and Gold Tournament, DC falls to 2-1 on the season while Adrian earns the Bulldogs' first victory of 2023, improving to 1-1-1.
Annamarie Fosmoen had Adrian's only goal of the season entering play and fired in a hat trick during the first 25 minutes of action. After heavy possession by the Bulldogs to start the half, Fosmoen opened the scoring in the 13th minute on a feed in the box by Victoria Pilon before unassisted scores in the 15th and 25th minutes. Adrian's Leah Homan knocked in a pair of goals over the first 45 minutes during the 23rd and 37th minute. Homan punched in her third goal of the day in the 89th minute to put the Bulldogs in double figures.
Adrian outshot Defiance 26-0 over the first half while O'Shea knocked down nine attempts on goal, including a leaping swat near the crossbar in the 26th minute. For the game, the junior made 18 stops and endured 50 shots in her direction. Haley Hughes recorded Defiance's lone shot attempt in the 76th minute.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Indiana at NAIA St. Mary of the Woods. Kickoff of the match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
