Boroff and Van Dyke finish in top 10 at Stateline Shootout
HARRISON, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team compiled a solid performance during the squad's first two-day tournament of the 2023-24 season while Winter Boroff and Cassi Van Dyke each notched career-best 36-hole scores at Miami Whitewater Golf Course in Harrison.
Defiance finished fifth place among eight programs after turning in a team score of 736 over the two days. That 736 score ranks as the fourth-best 36-hole score in DC's women's golf history. Additionally, the quartet's 366 total on Saturday checks in at 11th in the record book among 18-hole team outings.
The top Yellow Jacket on the leaderboard was an eight-place finish by Boroff (Convoy, Ohio/Lincolnview) with a career-best 171 tournament score, which ties her for the fourth-lowest 36-hole individual score by a female golfer at DC. Boroff shot 85 on Saturday before handing in an 86 on Sunday fueled by back-nine scores of 42 and 41 respectively.
Van Dyke (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) also finished in the top 10 with a 10th-place finish with rounds of 86 and 88 for 174. Her total is tied for seventh all-time at DC for two-day tournaments.
Isabelle Vance (Continental, Ohio/Miller City) shot twin 91s for 182 and a 20th-place finish. Competing in her first collegiate 36-hole tournament, Emily Momany (Toledo, Ohio/Emmanuel Christian) compiled scores of 104 and 105 for a total of 209.
Mount St. Joseph won the team title with 654 strokes, 27 better than second-place Bluffton. Bluffton's Allie Waggener carded rounds of 80 and 75 to take the individual title by three shots over Amy Smith from MSJ.
Defiance heads to the HCAC Fall Preview at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Indiana next Saturday and Sunday.
