Craft named HCAC Pitcher of the Week
Carmel, Ind. - Defiance sophomore Anika Craft has been named the HCAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time in her career and the first time this season.
Craft pitched two complete games this past week against Albion and Rose-Hulman. Both performances were on the road.
She threw a complete game shutout against Albion and only allowed one hit while striking out 10. Craft retired 13 straight during the game against Albion.
At Rose-Hulman, her offense gave her seven runs of support as she struck out eight and allowed three earned runs. She began the game retiring the first 10 batters.
For the week, she finished with a 2-0 record and compiled 18 total strikeouts.
After dropping two close games to Adrian yesterday, the Yellow Jackets will look to start a new winning streak when Bluffton visits Sal Hench Field Saturday afternoon. First pitch for game one is at 1 p.m.
