Davis and Krick Place in Top 10 for DC at HCAC Championships
BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s cross country team finished 4th for its highest finish since 2001 at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, October 27. Junior Joe Davis and Senior Hayden Krick finished in the top-10 overall and earned First-Team All-HCAC.

Junior Joe Davis and Senior Hayden Krick finished in the top-10 overall and earned First-Team All-HCAC.
Davis paced the Yellow Jackets on the afternoon, by finishing third of 107 competitors with a time of 26:38. The third-place finish was the highest ever mark for a DC men's cross country runner at the conference championships.
Finishing not far behind him was Antwerp, Ohio native Hayden Krick. The senior crossed the finish line in 9th place and a time of 26:52.3.
With the two upperclassmen's top 10 finishes, Davis and Krick earned First-Team All-HCAC. This marks the first time since 2004 that Defiance has had a runner earn first-team all-conference, as well as the first time that the Jackets have had two All-HCAC runners since joining the conference. Krick was also recognized as a member of the HCAC All-Sportmanship Team.
Junior Madison Murphy also performed well on the afternoon. The DC harrier finished in 29thoverall with a mark of 28:01.5.
Manchester University ran away at the meet by scoring an incredibly low 27 points total. The team's top five runners all finished in the top eight on the day. Coming in second place was Rose-Hulman with 83 points and just ahead of DC was Franklin who scored 97.
DC will be back on the run Saturday, November 10 when it heads to Anderson, Ind. for the NCAA Division III Regional Championships. Action will kickoff at 11 a.m.
