Yellow Jacket Men Take Part In Tiffin Invitational
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's track and field team continued its 2016-17 season when it traveled to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Tiffin University Dragon Open.
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's track and field team continued its 2016-17 season when it traveled to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Tiffin University Dragon Open.
The top individual performance in the running events was turned in by freshman DeVonte' Cravin (Ama, Fla./Hahnville) who placed 21st in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.10 seconds.
Leading the way in the field events was junior Joshua Petro (Ocala, Fla./The Villages) who finished eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 48' 4.00". Sophomore Javier Castillo (Nogales, Ariz./Nogales) also competed in the event and placed 11th with a mark of 45' 5.75". Two other Yellow Jackets posted a top-20 effort in senior Joshua Ream (Van Wert/Crestview) and sophomore Andrew Fahler (Wellington). Ream placed 17th following a best mark of 41' 9.25" and Fahler finished just behind Ream in 18th place with a throw of 41' 5.00".
In the shot put, DC had one lone competitor finish in the top-20 in Castillo who placed 10th overall thanks to a throw of 44' 09.75".
The DC track teams will host their first indoor track meet of the season next Saturday (Jan. 28) with the Defiance Invitational at the George M. Smart Center. The start time for the meet has yet to be determined.
