Men's soccer takes down MSJ on the road
The Defiance men's soccer team defeated Mount St. Joseph 2-1 on Wednesday night to end their four-game losing streak and pick up a key Heartland Collegiate Atheltic Conference victory thanks to goals from junior Armando Campos-Ortiz and senior Eli Rogers.

Inside The Numbers
- Sophomore Erdwin Quintana led the Yellow Jacket attack with five shots including three on goal.
- Senior Chase Stiner and junior Noah Svanberg each logged three shots in the contest.
- Campos-Ortiz and Rogers both chipped in with two shots apiece.
- Junior Austin Boles made one save and earned his third win of the season.
- David Crosby led the Lions with three shots.
- Velez Martinez, Willis Johnson, and Tiandan Fox each logged two shots for Mount St. Joseph.

The Difference
- The Yellow Jackets outshot the Lions 19-11 in the contest.
- After a scoreless first half, Campos-Ortiz gave the Yellow Jackets the lead with a goal less than three minutes into the second half. The goal is his third of the season and ninth of his career.
- Rogers extended to lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute with his first goal of the season and third of his career. Freshman Jack Stanoikovich recorded his first career assist on the play.
- The Lions cut the deficit in half in the 71st minute off a goal by Fox but the Yellow Jackets were able to hold on for the victory.

- Senior Jacob Rygula has tied the Defiance record for most career games played. He now sits atop the leaderboard with Jordan Drake (2012-15), Blayne Robbins (2012-15), Chris Berg (2002-05), and Luke Freels 2010-13) with 73 career appearances.
