Jackets Drop a Defensive Battle to Engineers
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance men’s soccer team fell 2-0 to league-leading Rose-Hulman on Saturday, dropping them to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance men's soccer team fell 2-0 to league-leading Rose-Hulman on Saturday, dropping them to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 6-4-1 with the victory.
DC had many opportunities to score, but Rose-Hulman goalkeeper Andy Kruth was outstanding, blocking numerous close-range shots and one penalty kick from the Jackets to keep the shutout intact. Defiance goalkeeper Taylor Smoot played well, keeping the game close until the final minutes, but a Rose-Hulman penalty kick late in the game sealed the victory for the Engineers. Kyle Johnson led the Jackets with five shots in the game.
The men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, October 7, when they host Marygrove College in their final non-conference match of the season.
