- Senior Cole Recker led Defiance on offense going 22-of-44 through the air with 245 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 45 yards on 13 carries and one score on the ground.
- Senior Machari Bighams led the Yellow Jackets with 60 yards receiving on five catches and one touchdown.

- Defiance started the scoring on the opening kickoff when sophomore Michael Martin took it 92 yards to the house to make it 7-0 to start the game.
- Alfred State responded scoring 14 points in the first half to take a halftime lead of 14-7.
- The Pioneers continued their momentum scoring 14 more points to start the third quarter to make it 28-7.
- The Yellow Jackets ended the third quarter with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Recker to Bighams to cut the deficit to 28-14.
- Defiance stormed back with 14 straight points to to end a 21-0 run in the second half to tie the game up 28-28 with 3:37 remaining in the game.
- Alfred State used a nine play 76 yard touchdown scoring drive to seal the game with 15 seconds remaining, 35-28.
