Yellow Jackets close out Florida trip with two wins
Fort Myers, Fla. - Defiance College baseball concluded their spring break trip with two wins on Friday. The Yellow Jackets defeated Western Connecticut 7-6 on a walk off wild pitch and St. Elizabeth 8-2. Headlining game two was Cohen Nies who is now the school record holder in both innings pitched and strikeouts.
Game One vs West Conn

Trent Murdock, Hunter Bostater, Ethan Jenkins, and Thaddeus Baker each had an RBI in the first inning to give Defiance an early 4-0 lead.

The Wolves could not get anything going against starter Sam Thombs.

The Wolves roughed up Joseph O'Neil in the seventh inning to tie the game. Jeffrey Varga relieved O'Niel and got out of the inning with the game tied at 4.

Hunter Loomis smacked a two-run single to give the Wolves the lead in the eighth. Both runs were unearned as the inning began with an error by Austin Horning.

Horning and Kolbe Vanderleest tied the game in the bottom of the eighth with back-to-back RBI singles with two outs.

Tyler Sickmiller pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.

Mitchell Roever began the bottom of the ninth with a walk, Gunner Gregg followed with a single and Trent Murdock was intentionally walked to bring up Hunter Bostater with no outs. Roever would score on a wild pitch to win the game.

Tim Bobek crushed his first collegiate home run over the left field wall in the second inning to give the Yellow Jackets an early 2-0 lead.

Josh Vischer and Tyler Dehan would each add an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0.

Alex Iserman his first collegiate action in the game when he replaced Roever.

Jacob Pipercic would get the Eagles on the board with a sac fly in the sixth inning.

Alexia Jorge would add an RBI single in the final inning.
