Yellow Jackets fall to Skidmore and Wisconsin Lutheran
Fort Myers, Fla. - Defiance College baseball could only manage one run in 16 innings Thursday as they lost to Skidmore and Wisconsin Lutheran.
Game One vs. Skidmore (L, 11-0)

Brendan O'Neill and Max Mello had RBI singles in the first inning to give Skidmore the early 2-0 lead and they never looked back.

The Thoroughbreds kept adding on throughout the game and earned the mercy rule win.

Reece Waithe, Ryan Reckner, Damarius Taylor, and Greg Kita saw their first collegiate action in the game.

The Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Hunter Bostater.

The Yellow Jackets had the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the second but Austin Horning flied out and Alex Morr was thrown out at home trying to score. Gunner Gregg grounded out to end the inning.

Wisconsin Lutheran responded with three in the second inning. All three runs were scored with two outs.

Lutheran would tack on two more in the seventh inning.

The Yellow Jackets had bases loaded opportunities three times in the game but the Warriors were able to get out of the jams. In the top of the seventh, Jacob Hild, Josh Vischer, and Alex Morr reached base to start the inning but Tyler Dehan, Mitchell Roever, and Austin Horning were retired in order to end the threat.

The Warriors would tack on two more in the seventh inning to extend their lead.
